Biography

Norma (Boosey) Smith was born in Louisville Kentucky in 1956. She started studying art at an early age at the Art Workshop, Winter Park, Florida. She attended the Columbus College of Art and Design, Columbus, Ohio, on a National Scholastic Scholarship. There she studied color theory under Joseph Canzani, former student of Hans Hoffman. She received the Dean’s achievement scholarship at Ohio University, where she received her BFA. Norma received her MA in studio arts from Western Carolina University and an MFA from Johnson State College, Vermont. She has a studio in Sylva, North Carolina and currently teaches in the art department at Western Carolina University.
